This painting was inspired by my fascination of the mists that rolled around the live oaks and hung about the Spanish moss, playing tricks with the rising sun and illuminating the shadows of what appeared to be the phantoms of civil war soldiers flitting in and out of the shadows, witnessed through my picture window in my old home in Moss Creek Plantation Hilton Head, SC
